I've managed to unpick everything now and have made really good progress. Here is an update.
As you can see I couldn't resist adding a few beads just to see what they are like. I'll leave the rest to the end now as they will get in the way of the frame as I work. I am still really enjoying this.

You should be enjoying this -- it's absolutely beautiful---- and not just the pattern -- your sitching is wonderful. I do wish we could discover the secret to no-rip stitching though :)
